How Enchanting Works in Minecraft Dungeons II (Books & Enchantsmith)
Minecraft Dungeons II swaps enchantment points for a book-and-library system — collect Enchant Books, apply them at the Enchantsmith, upgrade them.

How is enchanting different from the first game?
The original Minecraft Dungeons spent enchantment points on random perk choices per item. Minecraft Dungeons II replaces that with Enchant Books — physical collectibles that unlock enchants permanently in a personal library, then get applied deliberately at the Enchantsmith merchant in Brave Haven.
The enchant loop, step by step
- Find Enchant Books. They drop in rifts and procedural dungeons, from quests, and from Soul Corrupted enemies that also yield the enchant currency.
- Visit the Enchantsmith. The interface shows your gear, your collected books, and the cost — the demo build shows UPGRADE and DISENCHANT options alongside the enchant action.
- Apply to any slot. Books aren’t locked to a weapon type the way MCD1 enchants felt — the Enchantsmith applies an enchant where it fits.
- Upgrade and repeat. Enchantments have tiers, and the merchant levels up with use.
Why books matter more than raw drops
Because enchants are reusable unlocks rather than one-off rolls, a full book collection is a permanent account-level investment — a mace you discard still leaves its book behind. Prioritize book sources: rifts, dungeons, and Soul Corrupted hunts. For the complete list, see all enchantment books.
What should you enchant first?
Weapons benefit earliest — damage and on-hit effects outscale survivability through the main story. When the endgame Soul Storms begin, shift spend toward armor and talismans that keep you alive in the storm zones.
